East Valley nonprofit organizations are getting support again to help children and families.

The Chandler Compadres held an event last month at Meridiem Kitchen & Lounge on South Price Road to distribute more than $1 million to area nonprofit organizations.

Established as a nonprofit organization in 1980, the Chandler Compadres’ mission is to help East Valley families in need.

The group raises money throughout the year at its Rock the Cause event, as well as at a spring golf tournament and through its tax credit campaign. The money is then given to nonprofits in the East Valley that aid families and youths who apply for the funds.

The donation of more than $1 million is a record amount for the Chandler Compadres.

“This is a great milestone for our organization,” said Ryan Foster, Chandler Compadres president for the 2017-18 year, which recently ended.

“Our membership stepped up big this year with time and effort to drive sponsorships from the community and ensure the youth and families in Chandler and the East Valley are provided the services they need,” he added.

The nonprofits that received the funds at the June Compadres event were: ICAN: Positive Programs for Youth, Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley, AZCEND, Chandler CARE Center, Fans Across America, Chandler Education Foundation and Chandler Service Club/AZ Brainfood.
